This species occurs in moist to wet habitats such as marshes, swamps, marshy margins of lakes and ponds and in muskrat nests. Adults are collected by treading vegetation ( Carex and Typha and other vegetation) into water ( Smetana 1995). In New Brunswick, adults were collected by treading Carex hummocks in Carex marshes and sifting drift material along lake margins. Adults were collected during April, May, and June.
