Armases ricordi (H. Milne-Edwards, 1853) View in CoL

Far more active than the previous species, A. ricordi was observed active at night and during the day, but only under tree canopy and where there was ready shelter. We collected this species along the lower reaches of Dorothea and Neltjeberg ghuts (up to 500 metres from the sea), and from brackish water areas at Brewers Bay, Mandhal Bay, Abi Beach, Magens Beach, and Mangrove Lagoon. We also found it along a drainage at Cruz Bay, St. John, but it was not collected. Rathbun (1933), Beatty (1968) (both as Sesarma ricordi ), and Chase and Hobbs (1969) give records from Buck Island, St. Thomas and St. Croix.
