Atya lanipes (Holthuis, 1963) View in CoL

St. Thomas is the type locality for Atya lanipes . This species was only found in Neltjeberg ghut from 50 to +100 metres above sea level. This species was uncommon, and was only found co-occurring with A. innocuous , during August, but was absent in November. It was found only at the base of waterfalls or in heavy riffles, usually on large rocks, and often in shadow. Like the previous species it was sensitive to our approach and would hide quickly out of sight. Chase and Hobbs (1969) report this species from St. Thomas and Puerto Rico (see also Nemeth et al. 2007; Pérez-Reyes et al. 2013).
