The Hydraenidae View in CoL is a large family, and the genus Hydraena View in CoL has at least 80 species in the Neotropical region, with more undescribed species awaiting publication (Deler- Hernández and Delgado 2012; Deler-Hernández et al. 2017). Hydraena guadelupensis View in CoL has been reported from St. John ( Peck 2016). We found members of this genus in the dense marginal vegetation of Fortuna pond on St. Thomas, representing the first record of the genus from this island.
