Helobdella triserialis (Blanchard, 1849)

This species is polymorphic and is widespread across the Americas ( Klemm 1991; Oceguera-Figueroa 2020) and an invasive in the Palaearctic ( Bromley 1994). It is well known from Puerto Rico ( Moore 1939 as H. punctato-lineata ). We found a brooding female in an artificial ornamental pond on Water Island. This represents the first record of this species from the Virgin Islands. The individual we collected was carrying 14 juveniles.
