Type Locality: Australia, Queensland, Darling Downs.
Vernacular Names: Stripe-faced Dunnart.
Synonyms: Sminthopsis froggatti Ramsay 1887 ; Sminthopsis larapinta Spencer 1896 ; Sminthopsis monticola Troughton 1965 ; Sminthopsis stalkeri Thomas 1906 .
Distribution: Australia: NW New South Wales, W Queensland, S Northern Territory, N South Australia, N Western Australia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: S. macroura species-group. See Archer (1979:329, 1981:148). According to Blacket et al. (2001), this is probably a species complex rather than a single species, including froggatti and stalkeri .
