Andrena (Andrena) rogenhoferi Morawitz, 1872 View in CoL
Andrena rogenhoferi Morawitz, 1872: 366 View in CoL , ♀ [ Austria, NMW, lectotype by present designation] ( Figures 25A–D View FIGURE 25 )
Remarks. Astafurova et al. (2021; 2022b) reviewed the type material of Morawitz in the ZISP, concluding that syntypic material of A. rogenhoferi was not present and that it might be lost. Examination of the NMW collection surprisingly revealed syntypes, as this collection has not been previously suggested as a possible location for them. Morawitz (1872: 366) wrote that specimens came from “ Auf dem Schneeberge, auf der Pasterze des Grossglockuers, auf der Sau-Alpe in Kärnthen, in Tirol (Franzenshöhe) ”. Five potential female syntypes are present in the collection, all of which are labelled by Morawitz as A. rogenhoferi sp. nov. Two come from the “Stilfser Joch” which is the Stelvio Pass on the border of modern day Italy and Switzerland, and which must be the specimens referred to as coming from Tirol, i.e. Franzenshöhe. One specimen comes from Stelzing in Carinthia, and one from the Schneeberg near Vienna. The fifth specimen has an illegible label, but must presumably come from the Pasterze des Grossglockuers. Since A. rogenhoferi is traditionally considered to have been described from Austria rather than Italy (e.g. Gusenleitner & Schwarz 2002), the specimen from the Schneeberg is selected as a lectotype, as it is in good condition and comes from within the modern political boundaries of Austria.
Distribution. France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia ( Gusenleitner & Schwarz 2002).
