Andrena (Taeniandrena) callopyrrha Cockerell, 1929 View in CoL
Andrena callopyrrha Cockerell, 1929a: 205 View in CoL , ♀ [ China: Shandong, NHMUK, lectotype by present designation] ( Figures 29A– D View FIGURE 29 )
Remarks. Cockerell (1929a) described this species from China, mentioning four female specimens collected on April 7 th [1928]. Xu & Tadauchi (1997) indicate that they examined the “ holotype ” female at the USNM, and indeed the label of the USNM specimen is labelled as “Type” by Cockerell. However, this does not make it the holotype, because Cockerell never stated in the original publication that one specific specimen was the holotype as is required under Article 73.1.1 ( ICZN 1999). Cockerell (1929a: 206) simply writes “Tsinan, China, 4♀, April 7 th (Jacot)”. Of the four female specimens, they are all syntypes and could all be designated as lectotypes. Examination of the NHMUK collection located a specimen marked as A. callopyrrha with Cockerell’s distinctive handwriting, collected in April [19]28 by Jacot. This specimen conforms to the type concept, and is hereby designated as a lectotype for consistency with the type depository suggested by Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002).
Distribution. Russia (Western Siberia), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China (Beijing, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shannxi, Inner Mongolia) (Xu & Tadauchi 2003; Proshchalykin et al. 2017).
Material examined. CHINA: Tsinan [Jinan, Shandong], iv.1928, 1♀, leg. Jacot, NHMUK (lectotype by present designation) .
