Andrena (Melandrena) ovinella Friese, 1914 View in CoL

Andrena ovinvella Friese, 1914: 224 , ♀ ♂ [ Russia: Siberia , NMW, lectotype by present designation] ( Figures 28A–D View FIGURE 28 )

Remarks. Friese (1914) described A. ovinella with multiple specimens from Irkutsk ( Russia) and Manchuria. Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002) list the type depository as the ZMHB, but Friese distributed his syntypes around multiple institutions, and the published location of his type material is not always clear. There are valid syntypes in the ZMHB, but as the specimens in the NMW are in good condition, the female from this latter collection is designated as a lectotype. The species is a junior synonym of A. senex Eversmann, 1852 which was also described from Irkutsk ( Astafurova et al. 2022a).

Distribution ( Andrena senex ). Russia (Urals to eastern Siberia), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, northern China ( Xu & Tadauchi 2009; Astafurova et al. 2022a).

Material examined. RUSSIA: Irkutsk, 1898, 1♀, NMW (lectotype by present designation) ; Irkutsk, 1897, 1♂, NMW (syntype) ; Irkutsk, 1896, 2♀, ZMHB (syntypes) ; Irkutsk, 1897, 1♀, ZMHB (syntype) ; Irkutsk, 1898, 1♂, ZMHB (syntype) .
