Redescription. Measurements of male: BL: 10.91–14.23 mm, FL: 5.95–6.38 mm. HL: 1.52–1.64 mm, HW: 2.70–2.98 mm, EYL: 0.76–0.77 mm, TL: 0.65–0.78 mm, PL: 2.02–2.17 mm, PW: 2.17–2.26 mm, EL: 2.88–3.07 mm, EW: 3.19–3.32 mm. HW/HL: 1.78–1.81, TL/EYL: 0.84–1.03, PL/PW: 0.93–0.96, EL/EW: 0.90–0.92.

Measurements of female: BL: 11.25–11.34 mm, FL: 6.29–6.69 mm. HL: 1.45–1.55 mm, HW: 2.13–2.35 mm, EYL: 0.71–0.83 mm, TL: 0.55–0.58 mm, PL: 2.20–2.29 mm, PW: 2.13–2.35 mm, EL: 3.13–3.41 mm, EW: 3.22– 3.59 mm. HW/HL: 1.47–1.52, TL/EYL: 0.70–0.78, PL/PW: 0.97–1.03, EL/EW: 0.95–0.97.

The characters of adult are provided in the original description based on six males and one female specimen ( Shibata 2002). Therefore, only additional measurements are provided above.

Distribution. This species is only known from Yunnan province, southwestern China.

Diagnosis. Hesperus watanabei may be easily recognized from the species of other borneensis group except H. flexibilis by the head, neck, pronotum, elytra and segments III–VI orange red, and by creamy white antennomeres 9–11 ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 13–24 ). For distinguishing Hesperus watanabei from H. flexibilis , see description of the latter species.
