Bombus terrestris terrestris (Linnaeus, 1758) View in CoL
It is considered a native subspecies in the eastern Pyrenees, where it reached an altitude of 2200 m. However, repeated introductions in greenhouses (in Barcelona and Almería provinces since the 80s) has led to its dispersion to other Iberian areas, where it is already naturalized and can be found at higher altitudes 2500–3400 m (Sierra Nevada, 27–30- VII-2010, 5 workers, P. Vargas leg., RBGM) (Ortiz-Sánchez 1992; Ornosa 1996, Vargas et al. 2013).
It has now been collected in the Pyrenees ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ) in alpine grasslands and shrublands with scattered patches of subalpine shrub of Juniperus comunis nana Willd. and Calluna vulgaris (L.) Hull., between 1720 and 2300 m ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ), on Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., Gentiana lutea L., Lonicera pyrenaica L., Lotus corniculatus L., Trifolium pratense L. and Trifolium repens L.
