Distribution: Equatorial Africa from Senegal and Gambia to W Uganda, south to SW Angola.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Uromanis . The name longicaudatus Brisson, 1756 , is unavailable; see Mohr (1961) and Meester (1972 a).
