Ammophila rubripes Spinola, 1839 View in CoL
Distribution in the Arabian Peninsula: Arabia (with no specific locality, Guichard 1988, Dollfuss 2013b), Kuwait ( Al-Houty 1989, 1997), Oman ( Guichard 1980; Dollfuss 2015b), Saudi Arabia ( Gadallah & Assery 2004a; Gadallah et al. 2013), United Arab Emirates ( Roche 1981; Hamer 1986, 1988; Gillett & Gillett 2002, 2005; Howarth & Gillett 2008; Schmid-Egger 2011, 2014; Gess & Roosenschoon 2016), Yemen ( Madl 2018).
Extralimital distribution: Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Guinea, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Remarks: Hamer (1986, 1988) listed “ Ammophila albotomentosa Mor [ice, 1900] (= rubripes ?)” in addition to A. rubripes itself; the former appears to be unlikely based on its distribution ( Algeria, southern Spain and Tunisia).
