Cheumatopsyche andohahela Oláh & Johanson , new species
Fig. 260–263
This species is similar to C. padaha , new species but easily distinguished by the presence of strongly modified harpagones. The upper branches of harpagones are basally broad, with a needle-sharp, dorsal tip being almost right-angled to the dorsal margin of the proximal part of harpagones, easily seen in lateral view. The lower branches of harpagones are broad, forming the blunt apices in ventral and dorsal view. The ventral branch is also covered by short, strong setae. The setose dorsobasal part of segment X is present but forms a pair of small, setose protuberances at the intersegmental dorsal region. The species is very large and dark.
Male. Body and wings brown with brown pubescence; wings without spots or pattern. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as sum of segments I– IV. Head dorsum brown, with 9 similarly coloured warts and six small wart spots. Antennae about 1.2 times longer than forewings. Proepisternum without swollen setal wart. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Forewing length 16.0 mm, hind wing length 10.0 mm. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu tangental. Hind wing fork I present.
Male genitalia. Segment IX fused annularly; sternum about 2 times longer than tergum ( Fig. 260); anterior margins of segment IX rounded; apical lobe on posterolateral margins well developed, located immediately above coxopodite bases; spine row on posterior margins of segment IX complete; spines long and irregularly bent on dorsum, straight, spines on apical lobe shortest. Intersegmental step between segment IX and segment X occupied by pair of setose protuberances ( Fig. 260). Segment X long, distal half curving dorsad; ventral margin strongly convex; apex blunt in lateral view ( Fig. 260), simple; tongue-shaped in dorsal view. Large apicoventral setal lobes dominating distal half of segment X; completely fused with segment X, except at apices. Setaless mesocaudal lobe reduced. Dorsal interlobular gap narrow, tongue-shaped, deep. Setose areas present at dorsobasal part of segment X, forming pair of small protuberances visible in both lateral and dorsal view ( Fig. 260, 261). Transverse sutures not visible. Longitudinal sutures running along ventral margin of segment ( Fig. 260). Lateral setose areas forming pair of elevated, vertically elongating warts located centrally on segment X ( Fig. 260). Coxopodites robust, basal half thinner than distal half ( Fig. 260), strongly broadening from mid-length; slightly exceeding apex of segment X. Harpagones with bilobed apices ( Fig. 262); upper branches forming needle-sharpened dorsal processes being almost right-angled to dorsal margin of proximal part of harpagones ( Fig. 260); both lower branches blunt, rounded, covered with short and stout setae ( Fig. 260). Phallotheca ( Fig. 263) with small phallobase; slightly curving posterad, sclerotised endothecal process circular; phallotremal sclerites broad and rounded in lateral view.
Holotype male: MADAGASCAR: Andohahela , 1800 m, i.1956 [R. Paulian] ( MNHN, in alcohol).
Distribution: Madagascar.
Etymology: from the name of the type locality.
