Cheumatopsyche ambodivoa Oláh & Johanson , new species

Fig. 163–166

The species is similar to C. ambohima , new species. However, segment IX and the apical lobe on segment IX are longer; the pair of lateral setose areas are less developed and less elevated, forming only a short wart; and both apices of the apicoventral lobes are weakly turned mesad in dorsal view. The coxopoditesis are more slender in lateral view, and the harpagones are blade-like in lateral view and thread-like in ventral view.

Male. Body and wing membrane light brown-ochraceous with light pubescence. Wing membrane without pattern. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum pale, almost yellow, with 5 warts of same light colour. Proepisternum without swollen setal wart. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Each protibiae with 2 spurs. Forewing length 6.8 mm, hind wing length 4.9 mm. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu tangental. Hind wing fork I absent.

Male genitalia. Segment IX fused annularly; tergum very short, sternum 3 times as long ( Fig. 163); anterior margins of segment IX regularly convex in lateral view ( Fig. 163), tergal part less excised; apical lobe on posterolateral margins broad, triangular, long, located above base of coxopodites; spine row on posterior margins of segment IX interrupted between apical lobe and apicolateral corners of tergum. Intersegmental step between segment IX and segment X shallow. Segment X long, narrowly triangular in lateral view ( Fig. 163); bilobed in dorsal view ( Fig. 164). Transverse sutures crossing central part of segment ( Fig. 163). Longitudinal sutures not visible. Setaless mesocaudal lobe not produced, forming almost straight posterior margin. Apicoventral setal lobes orienting posterad ( Fig. 163); slightly narrowing distad, curving slightly mesad in dorsal view ( Fig. 164). Pair of lateral setose areas forming elevated warts, located well beyond transverse sutures at base of apicoventral setal lobes. Coxopodites extending beyond apex of segment X, almost straight in lateral view ( Fig. 163), only slightly downcurving, margins parallel-sided. Harpagones blade-like, broad in lateral view ( Fig. 163); thread-like in ventral view ( Fig. 165). Phallothecal dorsum ( Fig. 166) straight, ventrum slightly broader from midlength; sclerotised endothecal process short, rounded; phallotremal sclerites narrow, orienting nearly ventrad in lateral view ( Fig. 166).

Holotype male: MADAGASCAR: Maroantsetra, Ambodivoangy, 1955 [R. Paulian] ( MNHN, in alcohol).

Distribution: Madagascar.
