Cheumatopsyche kumasa Oláh & Johanson , new species
Fig. 143–146
This species is morphologically similar to C. akana Statzner described from the Ivory Cost, and is distinguished by the different shape of the apex of the apicoventral setal lobes, being clavate in lateral and dorsal view, and curving dorsad. Both gonocoxites are parallel-sided, not tapering, and the phallotheca is very shallow.
Male. Body and wings yellow ochraceous with light pubescence. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum yellow, with 7 slightly lighter warts. Proepisternum without swollen setal wart. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Both protibiae with 2 spurs. Forewing length 5.8 mm, hind wing length 4.6 mm. Distance between forewing crossveins m-cu and cu equal to half the length of crossvein m-cu. Hind wing fork I absent.
Male genitalia. Segment IX fused annularly; tergum very short, sternum 3 times longer than tergum ( Fig. 143); anterior margins of segment IX regularly convex in lateral view ( Fig. 143); apical lobe on posterolateral margins triangular, located above base of coxopodites; spine row along posterior margins of segment IX interupted beyond dorsocaudal spiny lobes ( Fig. 143), spines on dorsocaudal lobes more than 2 times longer than other spines. Intersegmental step between segment IX and segment X deep and right-angled ( Fig. 143). Segment X long and narrow in lateral view, quadrangular and strongly bilobed in dorsal view ( Fig. 144). Transverse sutures crossing segment X. Longitudinal sutures forming continuation of apicoventral setal lobes, circling preanal appendages ( Fig. 143). Dorsomesal plate straight-cut apically ( Fig. 143). Apicoventral setal lobes in lateral view ( Fig. 143) curving dorsad, bluntly clavate ( Fig. 143); apex rounded, capitate in dorsal view ( Fig. 143). Pair of lateral setose areas forming bean-shaped warts located well beyond transverse sutures, situated distally, almost reaching apical margin of dorsomesal plate ( Fig. 143). Coxopodites slightly exceeding beyond apex of segment X, both straight with slightly dilating apex. Harpagones broadest at base ( Fig.
143), with parallel-sided, finger-like bodies, not tapering in lateral or ventral view ( Fig. 143, 145). Phallothecal dorsum ( Fig. 146) concave, constricted at mid-length; sclerotised endothecal process regular, circular, as broad as apex of phallotheca; phallotremal sclerites small, rounded in lateral view.
Holotype male: GHANA: Kumasi , 4.ii.1968, light [S. Endrödy] ( HNHM, in alcohol).
