Triticum tenellum Linnaeus View in CoL , Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 880. 1759.
["Habitat Monspelii? Sauvages."] Sp. Pl. ed. 2, 1: 127 (1762). RCN: 728.
Neotype (Meikle, Fl. Cyprus 2: 1723. 1985): Herb. Linn. No. 104.14 ( LINN) .
Current name: Micropyrum tenellum (L.) Link View in CoL ( Poaceae ).
Note: Specific epithet spelled “tenenellum” in Sp. Pl. ed. 2, 1: 127 (1763).
Although Meikle (Fl. Cyprus 2: 1723. 23 Apr 1985) indicated unspecified material in LINN as type, there is only one collection that can be associated with this name. Stace & Jarvis (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 91: 439. 11 Dec 1985) independently discussed and typified T. tenellum , concluding that the same Linnaean material should be a neotype, rather than a lectotype, because of the absence of any Linnaean annotation on the sheet. Neotypification is therefore attributed to Meikle (Art. 9.8).
