Redescription. Length 2.50–2.70 mm ( Fig. 59–62 View FIGURES 55–72 ). Integument reddish brown, with dorsal vestiture formed by recumbent, narrow, pale brown, dark brown and whitish scales, the first more numerous at sides of pronotum and on elytra, the latter forming a indistinct longitudinal vitta on pronotum at midline; sparse broad scales at base and sides of pronotum and on elytral interstria 1. Rostrum ( Fig. 183–186 View FIGURES 173–196 ) stout (Rl/Rw 2.95–3.32 in male, 3.27–3.36 in female; Rl/Pl 0.72–0.86 in male, 0.82–0.87 in female), poorly sexually dimorphic. Antennal funicle 7-segmented. Eyes globose, prominent. Pronotum slightly transverse (Pw/Pl 1.09–1.20), with parallel sides in basal half, distinctly narrower than elytra at base. Elytra suboval (Ew/Pw 1.20–1.40; El/Ew 1.42–1.67), with prominent humeri. Femora ( Fig. 275–276 View FIGURES 275–306 ) with small tooth. Profemora and protibiae ( Fig. 324 View FIGURES 307–339 ) without sexual characters. Claws with robust medial teeth, as long as half of claw. Genitalia: body of penis ( Fig. 380 View FIGURES 380–387 ) long, narrow, very slightly enlarged at apical third on dorsal view, with blunted large tip ( Fig. 414–415 View FIGURES 397–431 ), longer than apodeme. Female genitalia: spermatheca ( Fig. 445 View FIGURES 432–457 ) with short ramus and short collum, indistinct nodulus, long cornu distinctly narrowed in apical part; spiculum ventrale ( Fig. 471 View FIGURES 458–484 ) with arms convexly spaced in apical 2/3.

Remarks and comparative notes. This species is similar to T. meliloti , from which it differs by globose prominent eyes, the shape of the rostrum and, in males, by the protibiae without a tooth at the middle of the inner margin.

Biology. No data are available. We have examined one specimen labeled as collected on Helianthus annuus L. ( Asteraceae ), however, we believe this association to be accidental.

Distribution. Previously known only from Mongolia. New record from China (HEI NMO SHX SCH XIN).
