Material examined. One female labelled “Shantung, Tsienan” (Naturhistorische Museum, Wien) studied by Caldara (1990).
Redescription. Male and female (from Caldara 1990). Length 2.20–3.10 mm. Integument dark brown except for reddish apical half of rostrum, antennae and legs; on dorsum covered with elongate, rectangular light brown to reddish brown scales and wide subelliptical white scales; wide scales numerous, especially on interstriae 1, 5, 6 and 7. Rostrum thin, especially in female, moderately long (Rl/Pw male 0.75–0.85, female 0.80–0.87), in dorsal view with sides slightly convergent from base to apex. Antennal funicle 7-segmented. Eyes flattened. Pronotum subquadrate (Pw/Pl 1.03–1.12), with subparallel sides in basal 2/3, widest in basal third. Elytra subrectangular (El/Ew 1.39–1.49), distinctly wider than pronotum (Ew/Pw 1.26–1.40), with rectilinear sides in basal 2/3, weakly convex. Femora without tooth, profemora in male with indistinct fringe of white scales. Tibiae without sexual characters. Third tarsomere distinctly wider than second tarsomere. Claws with robust medial teeth, as long as half of claw. Male genitalia: body of penis long, in dorsal view almost parallel at sides, gradually narrowing toward apex with subacute tip. Female genitalia: spermatheca with parallel-sided long thin ramus, poorly distinct collum, narrow nodulus and long thin cornu gradually narrowing to apex; spiculum ventrale with arms joined in basal quarter, then somewhat divergent and convex to apex.
Remarks and comparative notes. According to Caldara (1990), the only female specimen from China examined (Shandong province, Jinan district) differs somewhat from all the other specimens by the shape of the dorsal scales, being that the elongate brownish scales are narrower and the wide whitish scales are more rounded. Therefore, this identification remains doubtful until the examination of other specimens, including males, can be made.
Biology. No data.
Distribution. This species is known from eastern Europe, central and oriental Asia including Mongolia. As above reported, it is doubtfully known from East China (SHN).
