Anodonta vescoiana Bourguignat, 1857 View in CoL

Bourguignat (1857: 18, pl. 1, Figs. 1-2 View Figure 1 View Figure 2 ) listed the type locality for Anodonta vescoiana as “habite les eaux des envions de Konieh (ancienne Iconium), en Anatolie (Churchill)”. Graf and Cummings (2021) listed a single specimen from the type locality but list this species as endemic to the Tigris and Euphrates River basins, Iraq. Lopes-Lima et al. (2021) note the consensus is that the published type locality is in error and this species is from the Tigris-Euphrates River Basin. Harris (1965) listed this species from Lake Habbaniya and observed it is confined to a sandy lake bottom with clear, still, and unpolluted water. Abdul-Sahib & Abdul-Sahib (2009) reported a new record for this species from the Al-Ezz River, Iraq. Haas (1969: 354) used 1857 as the date for this species. Graf and Cumings (2021) and MolluscaBase (2021) listed the date of publication as 1856. Date of the original description was documented by Bank et al. (2019: 82) as 1857 not 1856.
