Lathrophytum peckoltii Eichler (1868: 550)

Type (lectotype, designated here):—[illustration] Eichler (1868): t. IX, fig. 1–10, 12–15.

Nomenclatural notes:—Referring to the type of L. peckoltii, Hansen (1976 , 1980) wrote: “Type. Peckolt sn, Brazil, near Canta Gallo, Rio de Janeiro, 1867 (holotype, BR)”. According to Art. 9.9 of the ICN ( McNeill et al. 2012, McNeill 2014), the Hansen’s use of the term holotype is an error correctable to lectotype. The same type citation is later reported by Delprete (2004). We were unable to trace the type specimen at BR and, also the current curator of the herbarium is unaware of the existence of this type material, even in the past. Thus, the illustration cited in the protologue ( Eichler 1868: t. IX, fig. 1–10, 12–15) is designated here as the lectotype for the name L. peckoltii .
