Basionym:— Hemithecium aphaneomicrosporum Makhija & Adaw. View in CoL in Makhija et al., Mycotaxon 91: 348 (2005).
This species is characterized by a grey to brownish grey thallus, prominent lirellae with a complete thalline cover and a slit-like disc, 7–9-trans-septate amyloid ascospores, 20–35 × 5–7 μm and presence of substances of the stictic acid complex.
Distribution and habitat:—The species is known from the Andaman Islands and Fiji and is here reported for Thailand. It is growing on bark of a deciduous tree in a lowland rainforest along a rivulet in the easternmost province along the Thai coast at 100 m.
Material from Thailand examined:— Trat province: Mueang district ; Saphan Hin waterfall near Tumbol Laem Klat, in remnants of a disturbed lowland tropical rainforest, 100 m, 12°06’12’’ N, 102°42’44’’ E, 26 February 2011, K. Kalb et al. 38887 (Hb. K. Kalb).
Remarks:—This specimen was sequenced and published in Rivas Plata et al. (2012) but not included in the lichen checklist for Thailand ( Buaruang et al. 2017).
