Distribution in Iran. Alborz ( Hoberlandt 1997), Ardabil ( Hoberlandt 1997; Modarres Awal 1997b; Linnavuori 2008), East Azarbaijan ( Sadaghian et al. 2004; Nikdel et al. 2011), Golestan ( Jakovlev 1877; Oshanin 1906), Guilan ( Safavi 1993; Hoberlandt 1997; Linnavuori 2008), Mazandaran ( Safavi 1993; Hoberlandt 1997), Caspian Sea area ( Farahbakhsh 1961; Modarres Awal 1997b), Iran (no locality cited) ( Yarmand et al. 2002; Göllner- Scheiding 2006a).

General distribution. Euro-Siberian.

Host plants. On beech, oak, snowball ( Farahbakhsh 1961; Modarres Awal 1997b), Crataegus meyeri (Rosaceae) ( Sadaghian et al. 2004), Quercus sp. ( Fagaceae ) ( Sadaghian et al. 2004; Linnavuori 2008), Carpinus betulus (Betulaceae) , Fagus silvatica (Fagaceae) , Pyrus sp. ( Malaceae ) ( Linnavuori 2008). According to Dusoulier and Lupoli (2006) in France this species feeds on fruits of Sorbus sp. and Crataegus sp. ( Rosaceae ).

Comments. Two other subspecies are known, A. h. angulatum Jakovlev, 1880 from China, Japan, Korea and the Russian Far East and A. h. ouchii Ishihara, 1950 from China.
