Anthomyia Meigen, 1803

The genus is widely distributed. Most species occur in the Palearctic Region, but some can be found also in the Nearctic, Neotropical, Afrotropical, Oriental and Australian Regions ( Ackland 2001). This is the largest anthomyiid genus in the Neotropical Region with 16 species described ( Albuquerque 1958; Albuquerque 1959; Pont 1974).
