( Figs 9 View FIGURES 1 – 12 , 133–137 View FIGURES 133 – 137 )
Diagnosis. Antennal 1st flagellomere brown on apical 1/2. Mesonotum with two wide brownish medial stripes. Wing with two brown spots between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, brown apical spot on R2+3 confluent with (or separated from) a spot on R4+5; brown apical spot on R4+5 confluent with pale brown transverse stripe-like apical spot on M1; a brown spot constricted at middle on dm-cu. Male abdominal tergites 3–6 (female 3–7) each with a black medial stripe-like spot.
Description. MALE. Body length 3.3–4.0 mm, wing length 3.5–4.2 mm. FEMALE. Body length 3.2–4.4 mm, wing length 3.7–4.2 mm.
Head yellow to brownish yellow. Frons as long as wide and parallel-sided, with two brown stripes extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle brown; oc shorter than anterior or, anterior or longer than 1/2 length of posterior or; gena about 1/6 height of eye. Antenna yellow, 1st flagellomere brown on apical 1/2, 1.2 times longer than high; arista black except for brownish base, ray pubescent, with longest ray shorter than 1/2 height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis and palpus yellow.
Thorax yellow to brownish yellow. Mesonotum with two wide brownish medial stripes, extending to tip of scutellum, 0+3 dc (1st post-sutural dc behind transverse suture), acr in irregular 10 rows and prsc as long as 1st post-sutural dc. Legs yellow and all tarsi brownish yellow. Fore femur with 3 strong pv and 5 pd, and ctenidium with 11–12 short setae; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 6 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 2 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ) pale yellow, with two brown spots between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, brown preapical spot on R2+3 confluent with (or separated from) a spot on R4+5; brown apical spots on R4+5 and M1 confluent; brown cloud on r-m and a brown spot constricted at middle on dm-cu, subcostal cell pale brown apically; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 5:3:1; r-m at middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1:1.5; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/8 of penultimate. Halter yellow.
Abdomen yellow to brownish yellow. Male tergites 3–6 (female 3–7) each with a black medial stripe-like spot. Male genitalia ( Figs 133–137 View FIGURES 133 – 137 ): syntergosternite semicircular with dorsal setulae; two setulae around spiracle; epandrium nearly trapeziform, with four or five pairs of long dorsal setae; surstylus curved knife-like, with an acute apical tip, long setula and small spines on dorsal margin; hypandrium H-shaped, postgonite long locate with two or three setulae; aedeagus narrow with a wide incision in ventral view and broad apically in lateral view, evaginable apically; aedeagal apodeme shorter than aedeagus.
Type material. Holotype ♂ ( CAUC), CHINA, Hainan Province: Baisha, Yinggeling National Nature Reserve, Hongmao village, 430 m, 21. V. 2007, Kuiyan Zhang. Distribution. China (Hainan).
Remarks. The new species is very similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) singularis Yang, Hu & Zhu from China (Hainan) in external characters of head, thorax and abdomen, but it can be separated from the latter by the surstylus with an apical tip, the aedeagus with a wide incision, evaginable apically. In Homoneura (Homoneura) singularis , the surstylus has no apical tip; the aedeagus is truncate apically without an apical incision ( Yang, Hu & Zhu, 2002). The females of two species are very difficult to be sorted according to external characters, but they can be sorted by different shapes of spermathecae (round in H. singularis and semicircular in H. hongmaoensis ). And the sizes, shapes and relative positions of brown apical spot on R2+3 and subapical spot on R4+5 of wing are variable in specimens collected from the same locality.
Etymology. The species is named after the type locality Hongmao village.
