Digonocryptus rufozyrix Aguiar et Ramos , sp. nov.

Figs 59, 60, 104, 205, 245

Description. Holotype FEMALE. Fore wing 12.5 mm.

Head. Ventral tooth of mandible approximately as long as dorsal tooth. Clypeus apical area delimited by smooth border; clypeal margin with two small teeth. Antenna broken beyond 14 th flagellomere; white band starting at flagellomere IV; 6 flagellomeres at least 50% white.

Mesosoma . Mesopleuron with scarce short hairs, 99% of cuticular surface visible; weakly strigose. Subalar prominence large and round, suboval, somewhat keeled. Sulcus between sternaulus and scrobe absent. Posterior transverse carina of mesosternum absent. Lower metapleuron striate-rugulose. Propodeum: area in front of anterior transverse carina polished, smooth, medially with two incomplete ridges extending from carina towards anterior margin. Propodeal apophyses conspicuous, higher than wide, somewhat compressed, oblong in cross-section. Posterior transverse carina distinct between apophyses, shape convex and somewhat irregular. Area between transverse carinae obliquely striate-rugose; area behind posterior transverse carina also obliquely striate-rugose but more fragmented. Fore wing in Fig. 205; vein 3-Cu 1.43 length of 4-Cu. Hind wing in Fig. 245.

Metasoma. Postpetiole dorso-longitudinally conspicuously concave, forming elongate depression with somewhat creased margins (similar to Fig. 106); dorsolateral and median dorsal carinae absent; petiolar spiracles in dorsal view weakly prominent. Ovipositor 1.10 length of hind tibia. Apex of lower valve with 15 teeth.

Color. Black and orange brown with pale yellow marks. Lateral pattern as in Fig. 59. Orbital band interrupted only at malar space; width on supraclypeal and supra-antennal area about 0.2 of interocular distance, on temple and gena narrower, but ventrally extending for eye margin to basis of mandible. Labrum and clypeus yellow, except apical area black. Head otherwise dark brown. Mesosoma anteriorly black with yellow marks, posteriorly orange brown. Pronotum dorsally along anterior margin with narrow yellow stripe, medially not interrupted; dorso-lateral margin with elongate pale yellow mark. Mesoscutum entirely dark brown. Scutellum antero-lateral angles with large pale yellow spots, one on each side. Propodeum as in Figs 59–60, apex of apophyses with yellow spot. All femora and hind tibia dark brown; fore tibia mostly whitish, except ventrally and dorso-apically brown; mid tibia mostly dark brown, except basal 0.3 whitish on each side. Fore tarsus dark brown with sparse lighter areas; mid t1 between basal 0.3 and apical 0.1 whitish, t1 otherwise and entire t2–5 dark brown; hind t1 basal 0.4 dark brown, apical 0.5 and t2–4 whitish; t5 missing. Metasoma dorsally dark brown, except as follows (Fig. 104). Petiole orange brown, postpetiole apical margin with wide yellowish stripe briefly interrupted medially. T2–3 apical margin with pale yellow stripe medially interrupted by about 0.2 tergite width. T4–T6 apical margin with yellow stripe widely interrupted and barely visible. T7 exceptionally with yellow stripe on anterior margin, narrowing medially to become briefly interrupted. T8 dark brown.

MALE. Unknown.

Comments. Similar to D. inermis by having mesosoma anteriorly black with yellow marks, posteriorly red to orange and metasoma dark with yellow stripes. Immediately separated from that species by having propodeal apophyses conspicuous, higher than wide (vs. propodeal apophyses present as a very weak, almost linear carina); posterior transverse carina distinct between apophyses (vs. absent); petiole orange brown, postpetiole apical margin with wide yellowish stripe briefly interrupted medially (vs. petiole basally somewhat translucent yellowish brown, remaining of tergite black with a apical yellow stripe); fore coxa dark brown (vs. fore coxa deep yellow). The concavity at the apex of the postpetiole may have been intensified by the drying process.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♀ “Valley of the Clouds// Chiriqui, Panama // III.9.60 K.W.Brown ”; “ Digonocryptus // sp. 8” ( AEIC). Left wings slide mounted; right antenna apical half, left antenna apex, fore right tarsus, hind right t4–5 and left t5, missing.

Distribution. Panama.
