Digonocryptus arcaeus Aguiar et Ramos , sp. nov.

Figs 83, 84, 91, 93, 178, 218

Description. Holotype FEMALE. Fore wing 11.7 mm.

Head. Ventral tooth of mandible longer than dorsal tooth. Clypeus apical area delimited by smooth border; clypeal margin with one tooth (as in Fig. 128). Antenna with 24 flagellomeres; white band starting at flagellomere IV; 11 flagellomeres at least 50% white.

Mesosoma . Mesopleuron, mesepimeron and carinal triangle covered with dense white pilosity, most intense on mesepimeron; mesopleuron finely strigate. Subalar prominence large, suboval, not keeled. Sternaulus very deep, crenulated. Sulcus between sternaulus and scrobe weak. Posterior transverse carina of mesosternum imperfectly developed medially (as a wrinkle). Lower metapleuron densely pilose, entirely and very finely strigate-rugulose. Propodeum: area in front of anterior transverse carina mostly smooth, but with weak crenulation along carina, medially without ridges extending from carina towards anterior margin; area between anterior transverse carina and petiolar foramen covered with dense white pilosity, hairs longer than on metapleuron. Propodeal apophyses present as subtle scale-like structures, posterior transverse carina well developed and continuous with apophyses, but not developed beyond them. Area between anterior and posterior transverse carinae obliquely densely rugulose; area behind posterior carina transversely densely rugulose. Fore wing in Fig. 178; vein 3-Cu 1.32 length of 4-Cu. Hind wing in Fig. 218.

Metasoma. Postpetiole medio-anteriorly with very weak subcircular concavity; dorsolateral and median dorsal carinae absent; petiolar spiracles in dorsal view not prominent. Ovipositor 1.27 length of hind tibia. Apex of lower valve apex with 11 teeth.

Color. Head and mesosoma main color black, both with pale yellow areas; metasoma mostly light orange. Lateral pattern as in Fig. 83. Orbital band widely interrupted at malar space only; width on supra-antennal area and temple about 0.2 of interocular distance, covering most of gena ventral 0.4 but clearly not reaching occipital carina, narrowing towards dorsal part ( Fig. 83). Base of mandible yellow. Clypeus apical area, clypeal suture laterally and narrowly from parantennal impression to torulus, black; main area of clypeus, clypeal sulcus and entire supraclypeal area yellow. Mesosoma in Fig. 83, with few, small yellow areas laterally; mesepimeron black but almost fully hidden by pilosity. Pronotum dorsally along anterior margin, almost reaching apex of lateral corner, with wide yellow stripe, not dorsally interrupted, widest and somewhat triangularly pointed at epomia; laterally on dorsal margin with long and regular yellow spot. Propleuron entirely black. Mesoscutum entirely black. Scutellum and postscutellum entirely yellow. Propodeum as in Figs 83–84, entirely black. Fore coxa and trochanter pale yellow, coxa latero-apically with small brown streak; mid coxa mostly pale yellow, mesally and lateral apex light orange; hind coxa, trochanter, trochantellus and femur orange, coxa with small dorso-basal yellow spot; fore femur brownish; mid femur brownish yellow; fore tibia yellow, mid and hind tibia deep yellow; fore and mid tarsus gradually changing from t1 basally brownish yellow to t5 dark brown; hind t1–4 gradually changing from t1 basally deep yellow to t4 pale yellow; t5 basal 0.7 reddish brown, apex dark brown. Metasoma: T1 basal 0.3 and widely on apical margin, yellow, centrally dark brown; T2–8 entirely and uniformly light orange.

Morphological variation. Fore wing 8.0– 13.6 mm. Ovipositor 1.14–1.28 length of hind tibia. Mandible ventral tooth almost twice as long as dorsal tooth. Antenna with 25–26 flagellomeres, white band with 9–13, starting at flagellomere IV at apical 0.3–0.6. Color: clypeal sulcus entirely yellow; supraclypeal area rarely centrally black (1/ 16 females). Mesoscutum centrally with large yellow spot (8/ 16 females); fore coxa mesally or postero-basally, brown; mid coxa mostly yellowish brown, basally with large pale yellow spot; hind coxa dorso-basally with large yellow spot; hind t5 entirely reddish brown. Metasoma: T1 often (8/ 16 females) centrally light orange instead of black.

MALE. Very similar to female, except as follows. Antenna with 27–28 flagellomeres; white band with 6, starting at flagellomere X at apical 0.5; smallest specimens white band with 4 articles, starting at flagellomere XI. Propodeal sculpturing behind posterior transverse carina finely and irregularly rugulose. Color: mesoscutum always with central yellow spot; fore and mid legs color generally much lighter than on female, without orange tones; hind coxa to tibia deep yellow, on smallest specimen yellowish brown, tibia darkened at apex; at least some of t1–4 on any leg white; metasoma with varied striped patterns of black, yellow and light orange ( Figs 91, 92, 93).

Comments. Isolated from other species of the D. diversicolor complex mostly by having hind coxa dorsobasally with small yellow spot (vs. absent or very large). Differs from D. grenadensis (Ashmead) by lacking black on hind coxa, trochanter and trochantellus, by having petiole basally yellow (vs. fully black), T2 fully orange (vs. mostly darkened and apically with interrupted yellow stripe) and scutellum of different shape, about as long as maximum width (vs. length/maximum width near 1.6 on holotype). The many flagellomeres forming the white band of the antenna is also characteristic of D. arcaeus .
