Graphis jejuensis K. H. Moon, M. Nakanishi & Kashiwadani (2012: 322) View in CoL .
Type:— KOREA. Jeju province: around Kwanum temple, Ara 1 dong, Jejushi , on bark of Daphniphyllum macropodum , 560 m, 15 May 2007, K. H. Moon 11408 ( NIBR, holotype; TNS, isotype, not seen) .
Thallus corticolous, whitish gray, continuous, smooth or slightly uneven, dull. Lirellae erumpent with lateral thalline margin, short, straight, curved or sinuous, unbranched, rarely trifurcately branched, labia partly divergent, entire, black, not pruinose, disc partly open, dark reddish brown (handelii- morph). Exciple laterally carbonized; hymenium inspersed (type A); ascospores 8/ascus, hyaline, transversely 5–8-septate, 20–25 × 7–8 μm (protologue).
Chemistry: no substances detected by TLC.
Distribution and habitat:—Described from Korea, Pitakpong et al. 2015 reported this species from Thailand, Mukdahan province, where it was growing in a dry dipterocarp forest near a waterfall, but it was not present in our collections.
Remarks:— Graphis jejuensis sems to be a rare species in Thailand (only one collection is known so far), characterized in having handelii -morph lirellae, an inspersed hymenium, a laterally carbonized exciple, short, transversely septate ascospores and in lacking secondary lichen products. It is similar to G. handelii (see above), but that species differs in producing norstictic acid.
