TYPE LOCALITY: Zaire, W. slopes of Mt. Ruwenzorii .
DISTRIBUTION: Ruwenzori region ( Uganda); E.C. Zaire, west of Lake Edward and Lake Kivu.
COMMENT: Heim de Balsac, 1956, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, 242:2257, proposed a new genus, Mesopotamogale , for this species; regarded as a subgenus by Corbet, 1974, Part 1.2:2.
