DISTRIBUTION: Arid regions of Somalia and Ethiopia. Senegal (RH).

COMMENT: This species is omitted from several modern lists or included in cyanea (see Heim de Balsac and Meester, 1977, Part 1:12), but has been regarded as a distinct species by Heim de Balsac, 1966, Monitore Zool. ItaL, 74:205; Yalden, et al., 1976, Monitore Zool. ItaL, 8: 14; Hutterer, 1981, Bonn. Zool. Beitr., 31:237; and Hutterer, 1981, Mammalia, 45:388-391.
