COMMENT: Subfamily Soricinae , tribe Neomyini ; see Repenning, 1967:45. Formerly included Megasorex ; see Repenning, 1967:56 and Armstrong and Jones, 1972, Mamm. Species, 16:1 -2, who considered it a distinct genus; but also see Hall, 1981:65-66. Notiosorex (Xenosorex) phillipsii is a synonym of Cryptotis mexicana ; see Choate, 1969, Proc. Biol. Soc. Wash., 82:475.
