TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., R.S.F.S. R., Altai Mtns., valley of Tourak .

DISTRIBUTION: S. Transbaikalia; Siberia from 70° N. (Yenesei R.) to N. Mongolia, and between the Ob and Lena rivers.

COMMENT: Placed by Yudin, 1971, [Insectivorous Mammals of Siberia], Nauka, Novosibirsk, p. 52, in genus Asioscalops ; but see Corbet, 1978:33; and Gureev, 1979:265.
