DISTRIBUTION: N. Spain to W. West Germany, W. Austria, Liechtenstein, N. Switzerland; Jersey (Channel Isis.).
COMMENT: Considered a distinct species by Meylan and Hausser, 1978, Mammalia, 42:115. Includes gemellus; referred to as “chromosome type A" or “NF 44 karyospecies"; see Hausser, 1978, Mammalia, 42:329-341.
