TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., Oregon, Douglas Co., Ft. Umpqua .

DISTRIBUTION: Forests of coastal Oregon and California, south to San Francisco Bay ( U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Not conspecific with mirabilis ; see Hoffmann, 1971, Z. Saugetierk., 36: 193-200. May prove to be conspecific with monticolus ; see Findley, 1955, Univ. Kansas Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist., 9: 1 -68; Junge and Hoffmann, 1981:28-31.
