TYPE LOCALITY: U.S.A., California, Inyo Co., along Lone Pine Creek at upper edge of Alabama Hills at ca. 5000 ft. (1524 m) (near Lone Pine, Owens Valley) .

DISTRIBUTION: Mountains of W.C. Nevada and E.C. California ( U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Similar to, and perhaps conspecific with, nanus ; see review by Hoffmann and Owen, 1980, Mamm. Species, 131:1-4.
