1. Ptecticus brevispinus View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs 1–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 )
Diagnosis. A species from the longipennis group with a black frons, vertex and occiput. The scutum usually entirely black with a bluish metallic sheen, wings almost hyaline with a darkened apex, vein M3 parallel to M2. The aedeagal complex slender and bipartite, the epandrium fused together with paraprocts. The pleuron completely yellow, and the genital capsule with a pair of short and lobate projection on inner corner of original gonocoxites. Each this lobe bearing a very short, inner oriented spine. All other species of this group may be distinguished by the much conspicuous projections on the inner corner of gonocoxites.
Description. Body length 11.0–14.0 mm, wing length 12.0–15.0 mm.
Head semiglobular, with markedly prominent frontal callus. Frons, ocellar tubercle, vertex and occiput black with black hairs, frontal callus white. Eyes bare, subcontiguous, dark brown. Antenna yellow, length of pedicel almost equal to scape, length of base also near equal to scape, relative width of antennal scape, pedicel and flagellomeres as 1: 4: 5; flagellum with a dark brown to black arista subapically, arista 2.5 times as long as rest of antenna. Face tinged yellowish white with white hairs, but lower margin darkened. Proboscis and palpus yellow, with sparse yellow hairs, occiput yellow with brown hairs.
Thoracic scutum shinning bluish black, but tinged brown to yellowish brown along sides, scutellum same as scutum, but with brown tinge at hind margin, rest of thorax yellow and with yellowish hairs. Wing very long, about twice as long as abdomen. Wing ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) mostly hyaline, apical fourth smoking brown; veins dark brown; R2+3 arising just beyond anterior crossvein, and ending relatively close to R1. Halter yellowish brown. Legs mostly yellow with yellow hairs, but apical 2 tarsomeres dark on fore and mid legs; hind tibia black, hind basitarsus with narrow black longitudinal line on outer side basally, rest of tarsi snow white and with yellowish white short hairs.
Abdomen ( Fig.2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) mostly shinning black, but tergite 2 with narrow yellow to brownish yellow apical margin, tergites 3 and 4 with yellow lateral spots on both ends, sometimes tergite 5 with narrow yellow proximal margin (or yellow lateral spots). Venter dark brown, but sternites 3–4 mostly yellow, rest darker. tergite with dense punctures and hairs as background colour, lateral hairs distinctly longer than dorsal, hairs in basal half longer than in apical half; ventral hairs yellow. Male terminalia ( Fig.3–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) exposed, the length of epandrium about equal to proctiger; aedeagal complex slender, bipartite, its tip slightly upturned, distal margin of genital capsule with a pair of long, sword-like projections. Inner distal corners of original gonocoxites with considerably reduced process bearing only a very short inner spine.
Female unknown.

Cuihua (33°59’N, 109°00’E), 860–1180m, Chang’an, Shanxi province, Zaihua Yang leg (GUGC); 2♂, 27.viii.2006, Pingpo (25°39’N, 99°56’E), 1420m, Yangbi, Yunnan Province, Zaihua Yang legs (GUGC). 2♂, 13.vi.2011, Mt.Gaoligong (25°44’N, 98°50’E), 1800–1850m, Baoshan, Yunnan Province, Zaihua Yang legs (GAFC).
Etymology. The present name is derived from the Latin “ brevi ”(short) and “ spinus ”(spine), it refers to theshort spines on reduced inner distal processes on original gonocoxites.
Remarks: This new species clearly belongs to the longipennis group by the following shared characters: apical 1/4 of wings darkened, and a fusion of the epandrium and paraprocts. It is very similar to P. longipennis Wiedemann by external morphological characters, but it can be distinguished by the wholly yellow pleura; the male terminalia, are very close to P. longispinus Rozkošný & Kovac , but the inner distal processes of gonocoxites are considerably reduced and their inner spine-like projections are only minute (Fig, 5).
Distribution. China (Sichuan, Shanxi, Yunnan).
