8. Genus Plectronotus Morse, 1900 View in CoL
Plectonotus is a Central America genus, characterized by body robust; first portion of median carina (lateral view) undulated, with a small pronounced pre-humeral ‘hump’ ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ); antennae with 20 segments; anterior margin of the pronotum (lateral and dorsal view) hook-like; ventral sinus absence; tegminal sinus presence only in P. scaber ; tegmina exposed or cryptic; middle femur apical spine absent and brachypronotal specimens ( Grant, 1955a, 1962). The genus consists of two species: Plectronotus scaber Morse, 1900 ( Costa Rica) and Plectronotus excavatus Grant, 1955 ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ) ( Panama) ( Fig. 36 View FIGURE 36 ) ( Grant, 1955a, 1962; Cigliano et al., 2021).
