Material examined. Mount Elgon, Kitale , 1°01′N 35°00′E, 2000 m, underneath shrubs, 1 ♂, 1 imm., 23 January 1938; Cherangany Hills, Kapolet Forest Reserve, 1°10'N 35°10E, 1880 m, 1 ♂, 1 ♀, 1 imm., 19 January 1965.

Description. Male. Carapace brown, black around eyes, eye field pitted. Fine short light hairs on carapace, forming white patches on constriction of carapace laterally. Long thin setae near eyes. Chelicerae brown, very long, fang with short apophysis ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 39 – 43 ). Sternum and mouthparts brownish. Abdomen dark brown, with metallic lustre, traces of light stripe in constriction. Dorsal scuta present. Scarce light hairs on abdomen. Venter dark. Spinnerets brownish. Legs I and II yellowish, dark lines along their segments laterally. Legs III and IV brownish. First tibia ventrally with 1-0-2-2 spines, metatarsus with two pairs. Copulatory organ as in Figs 40, 41 View FIGURES 39 – 43 . Tibial apophysis large, hooked distally, flange of apophysis distinct, with clearly visible dorsal incision ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 39 – 43 ). Dimensions. Cephalothorax: length 2.1, width 1.1, height 0.9. Abdomen: length 2.4, width 1.3. Eye field: length 1.0, anterior width 1.0, posterior width 1.1.

Female. Similar to male, slightly lighter coloured. Legs yellowish, dark lines on lateral surface of tibiae I and II. Chelicerae with five teeth on promargin and seven on retromargin. Epigyne with pair of pockets, widely separated ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 39 – 43 ). Internal structure as in Fig. 43 View FIGURES 39 – 43 . Dimensions. Cephalothorax: length 2.0, width 1.0, height 0.8. Abdomen: length 2.2–2.9, width 1.1–1.2. Eye field: length 0.8, anterior width 0.8, posterior width 1.0.
