Type species— Leptostylus terraecolor Horn, 1880 (original designation).

Diagnosis. From the original description: “Pronotum two-thirds again as wide as long, broadest across the lateral tubercles, which are situated at or feebly behind middle; disk with five or seven distinct tubercles… Elytra devoid of tubercles, basal gibbosity distinct but not prominent… Prosternal process two-thirds as broad as a procoxal cavity; mesosternal process as broad as (or broader than) a mesocoxal cavity…” Number of species currently included: 37; in Central America : 1.
