Type :— MADAGASCAR. Chiefly in Betsileo-land , on stony ground and about woods, 6–7 feet [~ 1.8–2.1 m] high, leaves opposite, spoon-shaped, 3–5 in. [~ 76–127 mm] long, corolla yellow, 8 biseriate stamens, very short filaments, received [presumably at Herb. K] July 1880, R. Baron 105 [lectotype K barcode K000232872 (http://specimens.kew.org/herbarium/K000232872) ; isolectotype P, fide Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 140), not seen], lectotype designated by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 140).
