Alucita ectomesa (Hering, 1917)

Orneodes ectomesa Hering, 1917: 190 . (Type locality: N. Nyasa , Tanzania).

Orneodes myriodesma Meyrick, 1929: 533 . (Type locality: Makulane, [ Mozambique]) syn. nov.

Material examined. 1 ♂, 1 ♀ (CUK), 20 km N Thazima Gate, 07.i.2009; 2 ♀ (CUK), 11–12.i.2009, 2 ♀ (CUK), 28–29.xii.2010, Mugesse Forest, Kovtunovich V. & Ustjuzhanin P.; 1 ♀ (CUK), Uzumara, 28–31.i.2014, R. Murphy .

Distribution. Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania.

Remarks. We have carefully examined the holotype of A. ectomesa and compared it to the holotype of A. myriodesma . In the absence of any differences observed, we consider these taxa to belong to the same species. On the basis of this evidence, we synonymize A. myriodesma with A. ectomesa syn. nov.
