Celtis affinis De Wildeman (1921 View in CoL : B1).
Type: — AFRICA. Congo Kinshasa , Galerie forestière dans la savane, 1 April 1914, fl., J.C. Bequaert 3301 (lectotype, designated here, BR barcode 0000008971135!; isolectotypes BR barcode 0000008971203!, K barcode 000243033!) .
Syntypes: —AFRICA. Congo “ Kinshasa , entre Lesse et Beni ”, 30 March 1914, J.C. Bequaert 3259 (syntypes BR barcode 0000018717822!, BR barcode 0000018717839!) .
Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. affinis, De Wildeman (1921) cited the syntypes J. Bequaert 3301 and 3259 without specifying the herbarium in which they were conserved. Polhill (1964) and Sattarian et al. (2006) stated that the syntypes are in BR. Five herbarium sheets were located there, three labelled as Bequaert 3301 and two as Bequaert 3259. De Wildeman (1921) mentions that his new species differs from Celtis integrifolia by the brownish, instead of olive-green, coloration of the leaves. Based on this comment, we designate the specimen at Herb. BR with barcode 0000008971135 as the lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3.), as this specimen has adult leaves with brownish coloration, in addition to flowers of both sexes.
Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of C. zenkeri ( Sattarian et al. 2006) .
