ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 17 (key), 22 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie parmensi [ Parmese plains ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♀♀, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 14): Masicera Macq. / incedens Rnd. / 743.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Thecocarcelia acutangulata (Macquart, 1851) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 219, O’Hara & Cerretti 2016: 104).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 22) described Masicera incedens from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being two specimens in the type series found in this study: “ Foemina tantum … capta [Collected the female only]”.
