Masicera cursitans Rondani, 1861 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 17 (key), 21 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino Parmensi [Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♀♀, syntypes (one partially eaten by dermestids, missing left wing, left fore- and hind-legs, the other missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 15): Masicera Macq. / cursitans Rnd. / 753.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Drino incospicua (Meigen, 1830) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 208) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 21) described Masicera cursitarsis from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being two specimens in the type series found in this study: “ Femina [sic!] tantum lecta [collected the female only]”. An additional MZUF female numbered “753” is not included in the type series because its label is rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and is in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat it to be a subsequent addition.
