ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 18 (key), 23 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 14): Masicera Macq. / caudigera Rnd. / 745.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Erycesta caudigera ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 221, Pape et al. 1995: 21, Cerretti 2010: 229, O’Hara et al. 2020: 324).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 23) described Masicera caudigera from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Semel capta foemina [Collected the female once]”. In his redescription Rondani (1862a: 48) stated: “ foeminas aliquas tantum inveni [I found only some females]”. Herting (1969: 190) reported a female in the MZUF. We also found one female syntype in the MZUF.
