ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861b: 211 (key), 216 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Germania [ Germany]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (very moldy) ( MZUF: Box 17): Hyalomyia [sic!] Desv. / murina Rnd., Germ. [= Germany] / 918.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phasia obesa (Fabricius, 1798) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 411) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1861b: 216) described both sexes of Hyalomya murina without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Exemplaria observata …, quorum masculum , …. et foeminam … missa fuerunt [Specimens observed …, of which the male and the female were sent]”. We found just one male syntype in this study.
