Psalida apicalis Rondani, 1861 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 92 (key), 93 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ de Malte [ Malta Island]” ( Macquart 1855b: 191) [locality for Leucostoma analis ( Meigen, 1824) sensu Macquart (1855) ].

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, missing abdomen and all legs except right fore- and mid-legs) ( MHNL: Macquart Collection, Box 6): G. Leucostoma / analis Malta, Schiner.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Leucostoma Meigen, 1803 ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 421).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 93) proposed Psalida apicalis for Leucostoma analis ( Meigen, 1824) sensu Macquart (1855b: 191) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Macquart’s redescription of Leucostoma analis , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, so the type material of Psalida apicalis Rondani is in the collection of Macquart (MHNL). We found one syntype in this study.
