Pyragrura uncinatus Rondani, 1861 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 90.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ De France et d’Allemagne [from France and Germany]” ( Macquart 1835: 165) [locality for Tachina forcipata Meigen, 1824 sensu Macquart (1835) ].
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993) did not list it; junior synonym of Labigastera forcipata ( Meigen, 1824) ( O’Hara et al. 2020: 592) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 90) proposed Pyragrura uncinatus for Tachina forcipata Meigen, 1824 sensu Macquart (1835: 164) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Macquart’s redescription of Tachina forcipata , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, so the types for Pyragrura uncinatus Rondani should be in Macquart’s collection. The type material of Pyragrura uncinatus has presumably been lost because it is not in the MNHN, OUMNH or MHNL where Macquart’s collection is distributed (E. Delfosse, Z. Simmons, O. Boilly, pers. comm., May 2019). Rondani (1861e: 90) described the species as “ uncinatus ”; he later ( Rondani 1868a: 43) used the spelling “ uncinata ”. O’Hara et al. (2011: 215) listed this nominal species as Pyragrura uncinatus .
