Nemorea nupta Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 72 (key), 73 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi … Dania … Germania [Parmese territory ( Italy) … Denmark … Germany]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (dirty) ( MZUF: Box 11): Nemorea Desv. / nupta Rnd. / 516; 1 ♂, syntype ( MSNPV: Box 97): Nemorea nupta Rnd. , 380, ♂, Parma.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Nemoraea pellucida ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 283) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 73) described both sexes of Nemorea nupta sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Maris unum , et foeminae specimina duo a me lecta fuerunt …, sed uterque sexus in posterum a Dania missus, … a Clar. Staegero, et a Germania a Doct. Schinero [one male and two female specimens were collected by me …, but subsequently both sexes were sent to me by Mr. Staeger from Denmark and by Dr. Schiner from Germany]”. We found two male syntypes in this study. The female type has presumably been lost. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Nemorea ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Nemoraea Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Nemorea Macquart, 1834 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 126).
