TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Dalecarlia [= Dalarna ( Sweden)]” ( Zetterstedt 1844: 1279) [locality for Dexia cristata Meigen, 1826 sensu Zetterstedt (1844) ]; “ in Insubria … in Pedemontio [Insubria (= Lombardy) … Piedmont ( Italy)]” ( Rondani 1862c: 144) [type locality for Zeuxia bohemani Rondani, 1862 ].

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Estheria bohemani ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 363, Pape et al. 1995: 28, Cerretti 2010: 436, O’Hara et al. 2020: 46).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862c: 144) proposed Zeuxia bohemani for Dexia cristata Meigen, 1826 sensu Zetterstedt (1844: 1279) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Zetterstedt’s redescription of Dexia cristata , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, and to an unspecified number of females received from G. De Cristoforis, G. Galezzi, M. Spinola and L. Bellardi. Zetterstedt (1844: 1279) indicated having studied a single female collected by E. Boheman. Therefore, the type material is in the collections of Boheman (NHRS) and Rondani (MZUF). Cerretti & Tschorsnig (2012: 272) designated a lectotype (♀) and paralectotypes (2 ♀♀) in the MZUF, but did not mention an additional two females: one in the MSNC and one in the NHRS (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes).
